And to the man he said, “Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it. It will grow thorns and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains. Genesis 3:17,18

As most of you know, the Dodson family recently spent a week in the Smoky Mountains. It was a wonderful trip and a much needed break, but upon returning I noticed how the weeds had invaded our flower beds seemingly overnight. This really bothered me, so after work the next day I went to work immediately pulling weeds. We all know the result of not dealing with the weeds in our yard, our garden, or our pasture. If left alone, weeds will take over and will choke out the good plants by competing for the water, nutrients, and light. Weeds dramatically reduce the yield in crops and take up potential grazing space on ranch lands. Holy Spirit began to show me that these weeds were more than just a nuisance in my yard; they were a spiritual thing and had to be dealt with in my life. Spiritual weeds come in many different varieties and have many different looks. Some are very obvious but others are more subtle and may even resemble something good. In all cases, spiritual weeds will always compete for our time, treasure & talents. They will limit our ability to produce good fruit and they will prevent us from fulfilling the destiny God has for us. Almost anything can become a weed if it is not dealt with so ask God what the weeds are in your life. Ask Him to reveal that thing, or things, that are stunting your spiritual growth. Ask Him to reveal that thing, or things, that are keeping you from producing good fruit and being a good witness for Him. If you will be diligent in this task you will see a significant increase in your spiritual fruit yield.                                                                  Pastor Frank Dodson
