My Mother-in-Law used to have a small ceramic plaque that hung by her kitchen sink with the words "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade" painted on it. That saying has always stuck with me throughout the years because there is such truth to it. So many of us allow those lemons to make us bitter and cynical, never stopping to consider their value or benefit to our lives. We know from scripture that there is a hidden purpose to trials and tribulations that come our way. Without them we would never grow strong or resilient. In other words, how can we be overcomers if there is nothing to overcome? There are times when we all need to be reminded of the benefits of trials that come our way and that each time we face adversity and overcome it, we grow. I actually happen to like lemonade. The best is made with fresh squeezed lemons.
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:2-4
